Default RHEL5 Installed GeForce 8400GS no X Display

I have a RHEL5 linux server 48 Core Intel. There was a default nv video card driver installed for the nvidia video card. Applications were requiring 3D modeling use. Upon downloading and installing the GeForce 8400GS driver which installed successfully the X Windows display no longer worked. A black screen is given. The x server is up and running. Any assistance is greatly appreciated...

Called nvidia support and there seems to be no linux support only windows...ugh!!!

can you read http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=46678 and generate a good report with the debug info as instructed after the issue appears ?
