At least they caught it early and they're doing something about it. Some companies should use Intel as an example. They brought out a product with a viable defect, and now they're recalling and fixing it. Some other companies should use this as an example of what needs to be done when something like this happens. *cough* Toyotaapple *cough*

Glad I haven't purchased yet. Wonder what happens at the retail level with current stock.

Actually, I'm feeling the opposite direction on that, happy I did jump when I did. The workaround was no skin off my back and I wanted 4.6Ghz of SB performance now.

Well it's just the Cougar Point Chipset which has the problem. Isn't that located on the motherboards? I'm a little foggy with SB, but it's been that way with all the rest of em. If so, wouldn't that be a motherboard recall, not the CPU?

You are correct, it is the motherboards that are being recalled, not the CPUs. But for some reason, Newegg began pulling Sandy Bridge CPUs from listing today.

So what are we going to do then? Will we have to send off our boards to Msi and wait? Boo.

Wow. What a huge stuff up on Intel's part. I'm glad I haven't bought an SB setup yet.

Bulldozer is looking more and more attractive.

It's a minor issue that's lead to a major recall. The problem isn't with the chip, or even the chipset. It's just Intel's SATA 3Gb controller on x67 motherboards. It will be fixed, and everything will be just peachy in blue country.

It is a minor issue, but it is now a major one as they will have to replace all those motherboards that have been sold. OUCH. That is going to cost them a lot of money. Although to Intel it is peanuts.

From what I have read the new motherboards won't be available until April.

I see that New Zealand retailers have taken the boards off there site.
