Default No shader info log

I have been playing around with shaders for a while now and I have never seen a log when a shader fails to compile or a program to link.

I am pretty sure my code to retrieve the info log is correct:
Code:
int result;
glGetShaderiv (vertexShader, GL_COMPILE_STATUS, &result);
if (result == GL_FALSE)
{
    glDeleteShader (vertexShader);
    glDeleteShader (fragmentShader);

    // Retrieve error information
    int logLength (0);
    glGetShaderiv (vertexShader, GL_INFO_LOG_LENGTH, &logLength);

    std::string message ("Vertex shader compile error: " + vertex);

    if (logLength > 0)
    {
        int actualLog;
        std::vector<char> log (logLength);
        glGetShaderInfoLog (vertexShader, logLength, &actualLog, &log[0]);

        message += "\n";
        message += std::string (&log[0]);
    }

    throw ShaderCompileException (message);
}
Whenever this code is executed logLength is 0.

System data:
S.O.: Ubuntu 10.10.
GPU: Asus GeForce GT 240 1GB.
Drivers: nVidia binary drivers version 260.19.36.

Any help or information would be apreciated.

Default Re: No shader info log

Dou you need more information? Isn't there anyone who knows if this graphic card has logs enabled/implemented in its Linux drivers?

Is there any developers forum for nVidia cards?
