Default Quadro FX hardware failure?

I was using my laptop (a Dell Precision M90 with a Quadro FX 3500m chip) without problem yesterday, to browse the web (so nothing graphics intensive). It had been fine for a couple of hours. Before then, it had been used to play WoW (and managed without issue), but there had been a few hours in between for it to have cooled down from.
It then just stopped. Blue lines appeared horizontally across the screen about every third pixel row down. The mouse then stopped moving, and there was no visual response anymore.
I gave the laptop a hard shutdown (long press power button) and then attempted to start it again: nothing on screen. No bios appeared (though HDD light went, so and CD drive clicked so the bios had powered it on correctly).

Trying with an external screen yields the screen noticing something (it comes out of power save), but it has nothing other than a blank black screen.

Putting the HDD in another computer reveals the following log messages:
In /var/log/messages:
Code:

And in Xorg.0.log:

(WW) Aug 31 20:41:56 NVIDIA(0): WAIT (1, 6, 0x8000, 0x0000ecc0, 0x000008e8)
There are no other messages after these, and nothing before to suggest any warning.

I suspect that it is a hardware failure. Is anyone able to tell what the Xid codes mean before I take the laptop apart to check.
Thanks.

Default Re: Quadro FX hardware failure?

I have same hardware Dell M90 & FX3500M so I found your post searching for 3500M. The M90 shows a blue screen with the nv_disp error message every month or so, but restoring my system to a previous state hasn't failed (yet!) to bring everything back. I'm not familiar with what happened to your laptop, but it appears to be faulty graphics card. Will let you know if I determine what it means.
