Samsung delayed the release for all galaxy s devices in the states. You can get custom rims that are better then official roms.

I'm running a custom ROM @ 2.2.1 Battery drain is a little higher than stock but it's worth it.

There's plenty of 2.2.1 roms over at xda, there's cesar's, phoenix, ultimate, perception, seredipity, darky, doc's and some more.
Spend some time reading those stickes there, we don't want you to come back here with <DiscipleDOC> OMG I BRICKED MY FONE, HALP!@##!#@

Too bad you can't get UltimateDroid custom ROM for that phone. Awesome ROM and they already have a Gingerbread release in beta.
