Default i7 950 @ 4Ghz

I finally got a new noctua higher rpm fan and reseated my Thermalright Venomous-x HS last night.

I ran prime95 small fft all of last night, without errors.

Its currently idling at 40 degrees C and during the prime test it was at 70(realtemp).

My vcore is at 1.275V and DRAM at 1.5V.

Are these good settings for running it 24/7?

Yes they are very conservative you could even try going for more. I would recommend not to exceed 80'C . Heat kills.

Great thread for me too. I just got my i7 950 and I idle at 33C at stock. Load temps with auto OC (3.2GHz) hit around 65C and I am looking to OC some. I need to move around some fans to lower my temps (and add an intake). I will keep my eyes on this thread. Thanks tornadog.

I heard the H70 is good but couldnt justify spending double to get 2-3 degree difference.

I have now managed 4.3GHz(205 x 21) at 1.35V, temps are 46 idle, 75 on 100% load.

Should I keep it or back off a bit?

A lot of other results I have seen require substantially more voltage as you go beyond 4Ghz. You may want to back off and stick to just 4Ghz as it may allow you to keep your voltage lower and keep your temps down.

That's part of the reason I'm just shooting for 4Ghz.

I'm running at 3.7ghz currently, idle at about 30-33C on 1.21 vcore. Thermaltake Frio with Arctic Silver.

Keeping meaning to push for 4Ghz but just don't see the point atm. Hate the whole testing for stability process for the sake of 300mhz more tbh.

I want to go higher, takes quite a big vcore leap to get upto 4Ghz. So strange.

I did the same thing with my E8400. I got it to 3.6GHz and I needed new RAM to hit 4 and I was happy with the performance at 3.6 so I left it.

This one's hitting 4 though.

Whats the difference between xmp and manual. Should I just use manual since xmp regulates other stuff to match the dram settings?
