Desktop freeze with 270.x drivers, KDE 4 and Compiz

Independently which window manager i use (Compiz or KWin with 3D effects) all desktop freeze immediately after window manager start. System doesn't hang because I can move mouse cursor. If I start KDE without compositing and after that run Compiz from console and after freeze I kill it, everything unfreeze.
It only happens with new 270.x driver series.

Hi,
I still can't use compositing (KWin and Compiz) with 270.x driver family. I tested all pre-releases and I always have the same behavior - Compiz and window decorations are loaded and after that everything is freeze. I can use mouse cursor, I hear sounds from system, but my screen shows still the same, nothing change. In attachment is new bug-report.

In additions, my system is quite old, so I tested it on a fresh instalation and nothing change.

Same problem here. Metacity composition is the only one which does work. GF Go 7300, xserver 1.9/1.10, 270.xx.

So, we have common point, everyone has GeForce Go 7300.
Please Devs look at this, without a patch we will stuck with xserver 1.9

same here with a quadro nvs 120m (7400go), with kwin, xorg 1.9 or 1.10 did not the difference.

Same here:

KDE 4.6.2, 64 Bit, Gentoo Linux 2.6.38, Xorg 1.9

But only after upgrading to 270.41.03, there have been no problems with 260.19.44.

After logging in, I see KDE start animation and just the moment KWin would start, screen updates freeze. The system is running, I can move the mouse cursor and it even turns into an input field cursor when hovering areas where an input field would be - so essentially the windows are there. The driver just stopped drawing screen updates. Disabling compositing (Ctrl+Alt+F12) immediatly reveals the running desktop, reenabling compositing draws the desktop once sometimes (I see the shadow and translucent effects) but then freezes. System remains running, however. No errors in Xorg log.

Hello, i`m using Archlinux with Gforce 7300, i have the same problem, but, using KDE 4.6.2, if i use the failsafe mode and change the render OpenGL for XRender, i can use the desktop OK, but with no full KWIN effects. But work.

I think the problem is with OpenGL.

Has this issue been resolved with the new version 270.41.06? Sorry can't test it now, not at my linux box.

I had screen flickering and a freeze on startup with all the drivers I tried after 260.19.36. I use Metacity without compositing on an 8400M GS. The freeze is fixed for me with 270.41.06.
