There were last minute API changes in RC3+. Check back a page for the 270.29 beta thread, where someone(AaronP?) says that he'll get a new beta in the pipeline for the newer RCs and the 1.10.0 release (which just landed).
I'm waiting on this too. Last edited by s0be; 03-01-11 at 11:09 AM. Reason: 170 -> 270 |

AFAIK the support for RCs only happened because the xorg maintainer once stated that there would be no ABI changes after RC1. Now that this no longer seems to be true I would not expect any driver (no matter what version) with support for RCs in the future.
Definitely not for legacy driver versions. |

It's not a hard and fast rule, as became obvious with the recent 1.10 cycle. In any case, we still don't officially support RC or prerelease X servers. The advantage of freezing the ABI ahead of time is that we can build a driver and start it through the testing process before the final server release. The problem we had in the past was that we couldn't assume the server ABI was frozen until the day of the official release, which meant there was a delay that caused headaches for people.

Of course it's coming. Have patience. Not even the main driver has 1.10 support except in a beta.

until then, you can downgrade to xorg 1.9 along with dependent xf86 drivers. Also as far as I know, you won't be able to upgrade to the new 2.6.38 kernel for those that are chomping at the bit with rolling release distros. My system upgrades frozen for now.

The 173.xx driver with xorg 1:10 compactível still take long? The nouveau driver is
too bad, do not want to retire my FX5200 Ultra. |
