Apple says "f*ck you" to iphone 3g owners

So apparently iphones now have a shelf life of roughly 2.5 years.

Basically according to apple, if you have an iphone 3g, your phone is vulnerable to attack and we're not going to do a damn thing about it. Tough luck, buy a new phone.

I don't feel sorry for iphone 3g owners at all. This is what you get for buying apple. Apple's attitude for years has been tough luck buy the new one. This has been especially true for their computer operating systems and I don't see any reason to expect any different from their phone operating systems.

People who buy iphones are likely to buy anything new that apple craps out anyway.

Wow, that sucks. So if I read that right, you are just open to malware apps that the user downloads, right? Sounds like 3G owners just need to be extra careful when downloading apps. Apple isn't the best when it comes to security, we all know, but they need to step their game up.

What are the REAL odds that someone will get "hacked" from these malicious apps? Google definitely took the better approach by just updating the Market (this affects every Android phone) but then again, the odds are slim and if the user will only download well known apps, then it wouldn't happen at all. I think people are making a big deal out of these malicious apps when it can be easily prevented.

The odds are pretty slim which is one of the reasons I don't feel sorry for them at all. If you want that extra peace of mind you're just going to have to fork up the money for a new device.

I agree on that one. Most of the time, iPhone fans will have already upgraded when their 2-year contract ran out.

My iPod Touch is still running iOS4.1 because it's jailbroken and I don't feel like doing that again. I don't browse the Internet on it anyways. I just use it to stream music from the Internet, read email, and browse nV News via Tapatalk. So, whatever lol.
