This is pretty unreal. I just voted for the "never" option in the poll asking when/if nVidia would actually address this issue.

Man I am glad they finally got this fixed. I have 4 5900U's myself and never had it, but too many folks do.

Sounds almost too good to be true. Any performance hit with these drivers?

The driver update fixed the flickering on our Asus 5900 Ultra cards at work
![]() I wouldn't have guessed that you'd be able to take care of an "interference" problem with a driver fix, but I'm not complaining. Thanks NVIDIA. |

I mean this is amazing. Numerous people tried just about every permutation of hardware/driver combinations on the face of earth to fix the flickering issue, yet nVidia fixed this massive problem with a driver!?!?!
I'm happy that this has happened (don't get me wrong). But there is just something really odd about this. It's like curing cancer with a bag of Skittles and a bottle of spring water. It just seems too simple.

Congratulations to all affected users. Could I ask that you still keep posting your experiences with and without the fix. It would be nice to know more about the problem and how it was solved. Moreover, I am curious to know if performance is affected.....my glass is always half-empty

It seems it fixed the noise issue as well. Need to play around with it more though.

I still got the tiny sound when I scroll on outlook i.e., but on my card it was really low so it's no big deal

Just got round to checking the new drivers and............................................... ...................
problem fixed About to try overclocking now as this always magnified the problem. Edit ==== Just checked......looked up at the blue sky in morrowind with my card overclocked and it's as steady as a rock. Edit 2 ==== Just checked operation flashpoint which was an absolute nightmare and the problem is gone. Completely gone. ![]() Last edited by pars_andy; 09-09-03 at 06:25 PM. |

Dear Mr Burke,
Thanks for the driver update which by all accounts fixes the problem (given that the problem doesn't occur on a digital connection, I'll leave off installing them until everyone gives them the all clear). Could you elaborate on the fix as your description is a little confusing given that: a) many of the people here have tried lots of different combinations, so it's quite a suprise that every combination we happened to try caused exactly the same noise/interference. b) you use the word "may", which suggests that you are not giving the full picture. Regards _Pablo

Hmmm...the readme doesn't list the 5900 as a card supported by this driver, but it does show the 5800 is supported.
Odd...
