The worst that can happen to you is called Computer Vision Syndrome, where your eyes may get tired and strained, but again, no long term damage. The same thing can happen to you if you read books for a long time, though if you read a book under sunlight, or a well lit indoor lighting, you won't notice any ill effects as these sources of light are easier for your brain to process than the light from say a computer monitor.

An LCD monitor is even better since it is a solid state display (you aren't looking at a cathode ray re-drawing the screen 60 times per second.) Further, the darker the room, the easier it is to see the monitor, so the less eyestrain.
those links say nothing about the vision of a 5 year old.

Hmm intel onboard from the 810e thats AC'97 compliant but sounds like crap or a Dell SoundBlaster Live 5.1 system pull lol?
