I'm still without a gaming PC (resorting to my flatmate's PS3 for occasional gaming) but I have managed to buy the most 'generic' components (so I can go AMD or Intel without having to bash any of my already owned parts) but now I need to go into the specific ones.
So far, I have:
So... I'm considering (which doesn't really mean I'm gonna buy it, just... 'simulating' in my head) going the Intel route (it's just 50-60 more euros from an AMD build, so... looks good), although I'm not gonna touch the i7 line, I prefer a more modest approach like the Core i5 2500 (don't care about the K revision, I'm not going to even consider overclocking as an option, I'm a stock lover for everything). I've found what resembles to be a good board (feature and price-wise) from GIGABYTE, the GA-H67MA-UD2H-B3 to be exact. But I would like to know if any of you have a GIGABYTE board of the same kind (an H67 or even this exact model), just to get some basic feedback on how does it behave... So... any opinion? ![]() |

I think the Gigabyte boards for SB are horrible, and I'd stay away from them at all costs. This is from someone who has owned many GB boards and had no problem pulling the trigger for my P67 board. I wish I hadn't, and I'll be replacing it shortly.

I've heard a lot of bad things about Gigabyte SB boards too. Maybe try a different brand?
![]() I'll be keeping my eye on this thread too because I will probably be picking up an H67 and a 2500K for a microATX PC with my tax return. |

I looked on the forum bob saget pointed me to, and there's no thread on that model, not that I have seen. Many of you do some overclocking, something I do not plan to do on the entire lifecycle for my system (stability and longevity comes first for me). So... I still have the same concerns haha ![]() |

Anyway, even without overclocking a Gigabyte board will still have the same awful bios, which is the problem with their SB boards. If stability is your main concern Gigabyte is the wrong way to go. You'll be happier with the Biostar or MSI in the end. |

I don't know a lot about Gigabyte except that I went for one once when I was building my old Intel Core 2 PC and it as a piece of junk, it gave me no end of troubles! It was based on the X38 intel platform. Anyway I had always used ASUS before and I ditched that mobo and bought an ASUS Striker Extreme. So when building my latest Sandy Bridge I naturally went for an ASUS board (P8P67 Deluxe) and can't be happier. Glad I did as have read heaps of bad things about the Gigabyte boards. Why don't you get a P8H67? or if you can stretch it a P8P67? i know you are not overclocking but just incase... and I think it has SLI support.
