They usually go on sale at BestBuy in a week or two, so I don't usually pay the $60. unless I'm really anxious to play the game. I did stop at WalMart on my way home last Friday because I am fairly anxious to play this one, but they only had the console version. Don't know on NVIDIA and their support of this game, last one they sent me was "Bulletstorm", which I've played a lot of and liked pretty much. In any case, my download of this title with the $30 UK Ebay purchase worked and I played a little at 57X10 late last night. Seemed pretty good, but I didn't run FRAPS or look at any settings other than the resolution. I'll look into how the game plays in 3d, Surround, etc this week on the 590.

It is truly sad that you guys have to resort to name calling and acting childish over hardware that no one here has made and/or getting paid for. You guys can't have a simple discussion without turning a thread into a hot, smouldering mess.
![]() Both nVidia/ATI fanbois here really need to grow the hell up. |

Be glad I'm not a moderator. The ATI posts would disappear, and several folks would no longer have the ability to post. AFAIK, the folks with tri-ATI in their sig are lost. |

Yeah, who would think that people would discuss two competing cards on a forum. I mean, that is almost a logical thing to do...

E.G. "Wowee! Only 70db for the 6990! Those ATi engineers know their stuff!" by itself has less meaning than "Hmmm, 70db for the 6990 and 60db for the 590?! Maybe the ATi guys should have scaled back a bit on performance for more reasonable accoustics, or maybe the NVIDIA guys should have scaled up some and had a bit noisier part." I do notice the NVIDIA threads seem to contain more posts from ATi fans just flat out flaming NVIDIA parts than actual NVIDIA fans oftentimes, which is odd here. On Rage3d they banned me because it was an ATi fan site, not because I'd violated TOS.

The problem I am having with most that are posting in this thread is that for the most part, you're not helping ATI-AMD/NVIDIA cause a bit. I know that there are some issue from BOTH camps, and that's just something that the consumer will have to live with. But calling people out of their names, flaming others for their choice in hardware, etc., is just plain stupid. It shows a lack of maturity, and it shows how screwed your real life truly is.
I can't help but to laugh at some of the posts...and I'm not laughing with you, but AT you. For the people that has stated their problems with whatever card and moved on, I applaud you. For those who want to continue to start crap and watch the flames, shame on you. |

Just compiled some data on GTX590 25X16 performance as compared to a 6990:
http://www.anandtech.com/show/4239/n...le-card-king/6 Battleforge 25X16 4X AA GTX590 99.6fps HD6990 99.6fps - 590 ties http://www.anandtech.com/show/4239/n...le-card-king/8 HAWX 2 25X16 4X AA GTX590 179fps HD6990 167fps 590 wins http://www.anandtech.com/show/4239/n...le-card-king/9 Civilization V 25X16 4X AA GTX590 70fps HD6990 55fps 590 wins http://www.anandtech.com/show/4239/n...e-card-king/12 Dirt 2 25X16 4XAA GTX590 112fps HD6990 94fps 590 wins http://www.anandtech.com/show/4239/n...e-card-king/13 Mass Effect 2 25X16 4X AA GTX590 104fps HD6990 91fps GTX590 wins http://www.anandtech.com/show/4239/n...e-card-king/14 Wolfenstein 25X16 4XAA GTX590 102fps HD6990 101fps GTX590 wins http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/vid...0_6.html#sect0 FarCry 2 25X16 8XAA GTX590 102fps HD6990 102fps GTX590 ties http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/vid...0_6.html#sect0 Resident Evil 5 25X16 4XAA GTX590 111fps HD6990 77fps GTX590 wins http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/vid...gtx-590_7.html Borderlands 25X16 8XAA GTX590 46fps HD6990 40fps GTX590 wins http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/vid...gtx-590_7.html Grand Theft Auto 4 25X16 GTX590 49fps HD6990 45fps GTX590 wins http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/vid...gtx-590_7.html Metro 2033 25X16 AAA GTX590 27fps HD6990 27fps GTX590 ties http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/vid...gtx-590_8.html Lost Planet 2 25X16 4X AA GTX590 48fps HD6990 41fps GTX590 wins http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/vid...gtx-590_8.html StarCraft 2 25X16 8XAA GTX590 49fps HD6990 15fps GTX590 wins http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/vid...gtx-590_9.html Crysis 2 Beta 25X16 GTX590 54fps HD6990 30fps GTX590 wins The rumors about the GX590 only winning at 1080P are obviously false, here are 14 games it won or tied in recent reviews at 25X16. Which is not to say I couldn't find 14 benchmarks where the HD6990 wins at 25X16, but the point is the performance between the HD6990 and GTX590 is largely similar. Besides offering similar performance the 590 is much quieter, has PhysX, has 3d Vision, and 3d Vision Surround capability.
