Default Driver for gt 440

Hi,
I just recently purchased my nvidia gt 440 graphic card, but somehow I cant find any drivers for my gt440.
Anyone can guide me on how to install it?
Or at least any other temporary solution for this?
Need it to run desperately, please help me!
I am running ubuntu 10.04
Thanks.

I wanted to say "f**k you" but then changed my mind.

Have you actually tried installing and testing 270.30 drivers? Last I checked they support all modern existing NVIDIA GPUs.

The GT440 is not on the list of the supported graphics, on the nvidia download site.
http://www.nvidia.co.uk/object/linux...driver-uk.html
If you take a look at the supported products tab, it is not in the list.
Some had limited success, because their cards were detected as GT435, but i have read on other forums, that the performance is quite limited compared to the performance on the same machine under windows.
I'm running ubuntu 10.10, 64 bit, and so far, had no success in running X with the offical ubuntu nvidia packages. The next step is the manual install from the official nvidia installer.
I'll update you if that worked.
Cheers!

Using the download page I provided in the post below, I downloaded and installed the latest 64(!!!) bit driver. After the installation I ran nvidia-xconfig. Using the new xorg.conf, gnome started up in the native resulution, with all the compiz candy, without a problem.
The NVIDIA Xserver Settings application, under System/Preferences reports my card as a GT440, and every spec seems all right. I have not tested anything else yet, since it's time for me to go to work, but initial results seems promising.

lalula2, if you need any further help, feel free to ask.
Cheers!
