violence and gore go hand in hand, like ddoc and butterdan. you can;t have one without the other really. but again, you didnt have to participate in the violence, you could just walk along and do nothing.

No they don't, Look at GTA. You can beat people up, run them over and shoot them yet there is almost no gore, and I would still call GTA pretty violent.

Gore just adds to the violence but violence and gore are not one and the same. Like you can have gore without any violence...
