I recently bought three HP EliteBooks with Nvidia Quadro FX 3800M cards. They are no able to operate in performance levels 2 and 3. The perfomance is seriously crippled. I tried few versions of drivers (Currently running latest beta). I tried all suggested sollutions except the new vga bios flashing. Nothing works. Driver correctly detects ac power and correctly switches Performance Mode. But newer reaches Performance Level 2 or 3. In Windows the performance is ok. I flashed newest system bios. I am running Fedora Core 14 64bit. Any suggestions? Thanks.

The same BIOS bug that's responsible for DreamColor panels not working on the EliteBook 8740w [1] also causes these notebooks to be unable to enter the maximum performance level.
I don't think a fixed BIOS has been released by HP yet, but we did get indication from HP that they were planning to include the fix in a future BIOS release. If you need this fixed sooner, you can apply the workaround identified in the thread about the panel. [1] http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=159544 |
