The steam summer sale kicked off last year on June 24th, so if there is one this year, it may happen pretty soon. The huge TF2 update that is happening this week may be leading up to the beginning of the sale but just speculation at this point. There has only been one big summer sale and it was last year but we'll see soon enough

Get a friend to gift it. I've done it many times, Steam cannot do anything about you having friends overseas. I've done it a ton of times, in fact they encourage it offering things like 4 pack bundles.

I wish they'd turn of IP tracking though like GOG. There you can select any country you want, then again, they are small enough to fly under the retail radar.

Homefront was a sleeper for me. I didn't expect much but it's a blast. Runs really well and looks pretty good to.

Hydrophobia: Prophecy is going for $3 (75% off) on Steam. http://store.steampowered.com/app/92000/
There's a thread on it somewhere, but basically it's not that great of a game and controls better with a gamepad than mouse+keyboard, but it is decently fun to get to play around with the water. There are better water graphics out there, but I don't know of a 3D game with better water physics.

Wow that's an awesome deal. It's a pretty sweet game IMO. I played through using a KB and mouse and it's not as bad as some say. It needed tweaking and could have been better but it's not too bad. Worth 3 bucks for sure!
