I see 280 is out, but I'm tired of putting up with the disappointment

I tried 280.13 already -> same bug.

I really hope that sandipt managed to get one of those boards and is already debugging..

Last I heard (on Aug 30) was: "The motherboard is expected be delivered between 9/2 and 9/6. We will set up the repro as soon as we get the motherboard."

I have something like 50 desktops all hitting this problem. I'd gladly fedex an entire system to them if it would help to get this problem resolved.

That maybe would have helped, it is not so easy to get the "buggy" versions, because newer version do not have this bug anymore, zotac did change something in their hardware design. GF9300-K-E for example seems to be a newer version without the bug.

The board should have arrived now, so I hope sandip solves the problem soon...

I would have offered earlier, but I didn't actually push out newer drivers until Friday. Unfortunately I did it without proper testing, a serious bonehead move which resulted in significant disruption.

Anyway, my offer is real and I'll leave it out there in case the nvidia folks don't manage to get a board that causes the issue.

NVIDIA received the Zotac MB but we was not able to repro this issue.
The label on the box says "GF9300-G-E with 9300 chipset" but nvidia-bug-report shows that this MB has NVIDIA GPU GeForce 9400 (C79).
I think wrong MB was shipped to us. We will check to probably do exchange for the right MB.

Well, that's the same board as I have; X (with the 260 driver that still works) says:

[101613.175] (II) NVIDIA(0): NVIDIA GPU GeForce 9300 / nForce 730i (C79) at PCI:3:0:0

and lspci says:

03:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation C79 [GeForce 9300 / nForce 730i] (rev b1) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller])
Subsystem: ZOTAC International (MCO) Ltd. Device 0ae5
Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 23
Memory at fb000000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16M]
Memory at d0000000 (64-bit, prefetchable) [size=256M]
Memory at ee000000 (64-bit, prefetchable) [size=32M]
I/O ports at cf00 [size=128]
[virtual] Expansion ROM at e0000000 [disabled] [size=128K]
Capabilities: [60] Power Management version 2
Capabilities: [68] MSI: Enable- Count=1/1 Maskable- 64bit+
Kernel driver in use: nvidia
Kernel modules: nvidia, nouveau, nvidiafb

So whether the C79 is supposed to be a 9300 or 9400, I can't really say, but all of the software seems to agree it's a 9300.

Does this one even have a 775 Socket? I always thought 9400 is Ion, so that should be an Intel Atom motherboard.

The 9300-G-E definitely accepts a socket 775 CPU.

This is the board I have: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813500035

I'm sure it's quite possible that Zotac has changed a few things in newer board revisions and that one purchased now won't show the problem. All of mine are at least six months old.

I know that, but these boards all have 9300. No 9400 Board has 775, as far as I know. That's why I asked if it is really a 9300-G-E.

I know from a user who wrote me that their is a newer bug free version named 9300-K-E with 3 sata connectors. (There are also bug versions with 3 sata connectors)

But as you said Zotac also produces newer revisions from some models which are not so easy to identify. They do not even list every board and every revision on their site.

Did someone try to contact Zotac about this? I don't think that a "change" in terms of warranty is possible...
