You have a 580?

The game runs about 20-25 fps on a single 580 using the Ultra preset and that's without any action on the screen, many times it will dip into the teens. Personally I don't think that's playable.

What's the perf. on 580GTX SLI in 1920x1200 with uber? I'm thinking to go back to nV because I miss SSAA in dx10&11.(yeah that has nothing to do with the witcher2, but i'm just curious)

At 19x10 I get anywhere from mid 40's up, depending on what's going on. Usually it's in the 50's or higher with things like caves, indoor areas shoot up quite a bit. Ubersampling is no joke, but the game looks so amazing with it turned on, I'll take the frame hit.

Any guys here running it with a 5850? Just wondering what kind of performance I can expect. I'd only be able to go to 1280x1024 max as that's my monitors limit. I could also live with a tiny amount of AA.

Silver ore is scattered in various places, especially in mines and caves and occasionally dropped by a few creatures. Yes silver ore is needed to make a new silver sword, but you also have to remember it also sometimes needs iron ore and timber. Carrying all that stuff really weighs you down, and you'll find inventory management sucks. I was always going over capacity so I had to dump a lot of stuff. If you get a crafting diagram for something find out what it needs and save only that what you need and sell everything else that has a weight. You also need some money to make them.

I only used potions on fights I had trouble with. I often save (using quick save) and if a fight was too hard, I'd have to reload, drink up and buff up and try again. If you aren't upgrading alchemy (I wasn't), I suggest first using oils, since they have no toxicity and can enhance your critical effects. Hangman oil is great against humans but generally if I have no specific oil against something, I use bleeding or damage enhancers. Any difficult battles, include swallow potion for combat health regen it's slow and not that effective but can help in certain cases, then depending on what you are going to face maybe some extra added effects like wolf for increased damage and resistance potion. But watch the toxicity meter don't let it get too high.

Personally I dislike the whole you must kneel to drink potions before battle thing cause it seems illogical to me. I can understand it for mutagens, and alchemy, but to drink a potion, he should be able to do that during combat, and just be watching the toxicity bar like in the first witcher game then use meditate or something else after combat to reduce toxicity. The way it is now, I can't see how anyone could finish the game on the hardest difficulty without having played through at least one time. I was very ill prepared many times and had to reload often.

I had all of the ingredients, except for 1 piece of silver ore, to make the sword before I even killed the Krayden or whatever it was called.

I ended up buying the piece off of the dwarf and had him make it. I also had him make a leather armor piece for me as well.

This really helped on some of the side quests, especially when fighting monsters because the steel sword sucks for that. I highly recommend getting the silver sword ASAP when in Flotsam.

I'm now level 15 and on Chapter 2.

Pay attention to the 2 settings that you want DISABLED for best visuals: Texture Downscaling and Dangling Objects Limit. Both of these should be Off/Disabled.

If you play around with Ubersampling, the game will be jumpy/jerky. Also, Ubersampling doesn't look as good IMO anyway. It blurs the textures just like Crysis 2. Everything looks more clear w/o it which works out well. Google has many screenshots showing the difference in clarity.
Cheers, glad it runs ok without the Uber mode!
