Official Witcher 2 - The Assassins of Kings

A very nice game. It has been a long time since I played a game like this. Unfortunately I won't be able to go deeper into this for a while but I'm really impressed so far.

Graphics are awesome, and I really like the Ubersampling option. My GTX 560 Ti does struggle with it at 1280x1024, but runs really fluid without it. I have to upgrade my drivers (Still on 260.44) but I'm a bit worried as it wasn't always a smooth process in the past. I'll wait until I've finished my (study) project at my computer before I try this.


Now playing the game at 1152x864 with Ubersampling for the time being, it feels a lot smoother now and still really amazing. It really makes me wish I have more free time, as I definitely want to get into it.

For ubersampling, if you go into the User.ini and change it from 2 (which is default with it enabled) to 1, it will use 2x1 SSAA instead of 2x2, ie 2x the resolution instead of 4x.
Dramatically reduces the performance impact, but also offers a bit less quality.
But it´s unplayable with 2x2 here, while 2x1 runs fine, and looks better then without, specially on vegitation.
Think its mainly near vertical edges that gets left out.

Use potions before combat and use the quen sign during combat to increase your protection and health. For small, quick opponents, use quick attacks, and power attacks on the larger. If they're really large or power, use traps and yghren sign. Use bombs on groups of enemies. Read the journal and meditation screen entries on the monsters. And if you're getting surround, use the space bar and the movement keys to dodge out of the way. Parry also works, but I prefer dodging.

I was lvl 14 before i left chapter 1. You should play again, this time enjoy the game


How come there are no Sex cards in witcher 2? bummer .. no way to track my achievements

How many hours did you put in? I cant help but check every room and do every quest. I just started chapter 1 and im 5 hours in.

Gamespot gave 8.5 i think..cant recall 100%.

The more and more I play, the more I love this game.

The combat, while tough in the beginning, is actually easier than Gothic 2 or Demon's Souls, so it's not that bad. I actually like the fact that it started out challenging, but it seems to be getting easier as I go along, which is kind of a bummer.

The graphics are incredible, easily one of the best looking games I've ever played. I have everything cranked up, including Ubersampling, and while it's definitely taxing, my computer is up to the challenge.
