I'll have to give a thumbs up for the Vertex 2. In use as my OS drive and had no problems with booting or cloning my OS to the drive. The only thing I have done to the drive is update the firmware and aligned the drive.
To give more longevity to a SSD make sure you disable indexing, superfetch and defraging.
