Why bother with hardware at all when it can all be streamed? All the overhead and costs are gone, all you have is the games and the bandwidth to supply. Latency is the only issue, but I think they can localize servers enough to fix that eventually.
The streaming service (that I predicted) is all well and good on a relatively small scale but to replace every single console on the planet would take a phenomenal amount of power at the servers end even localized unless we're talking 1 for every 10 homes.

Of course ALL media would be streamed using the same system so that many servers isnt out of the question since it would be economically viable since its not just for games

you would access your library with your retina / fingerprint / voice / appearance / DNA / whatever for access wherever you go

There would no longer be distribution in the old sense and a lot of people will be employed instead maintaining the system

ALL media will be owned by FOX but they'll sell off their news channel to keep it legal.

For the immediate future I think making the next xbox just a much more powerful 360 but upgradable and still keeping 100% compatibility would be a good move IMO.

The newest 360 is as we know a more powerful machine made lame. Faster frame-rates would be a more enticing prospect for me in a console than a new shiny black paint job.

Not enabling the newer to perform to its fullest is fail.

The 4.8ghz 2600k beat a 3.6Ghz 920 by a nice percentage in each game.... in fact read the conclusion... Kyle is building Steve a 2600k after these results. can you imagine a stock 920. Serious LuLzFAIL dude.

Depending on the game, it wasn't just a small victory either. In F1 2010 there was nearly a 30% performance advantage with GTX 580 3-Way SLI over Tri-Fire. In BC2 there was a 24% performance improvement over Tri-Fire. However, there was equally some unimpressive differences, such as Metro 2033 with 6% and Crysis: Warhead with 7%.
Only one game had a huge boost, F1 2010. All the rest, the difference was negligable. 19FPS vs. 10FPS. Huge game breaker thar.

Not only that, there's a 1.2GHz difference in clock speed. Most 920 on good cooling can hit 4Ghz or higher bro.

Nah, find one that doesn't give the 2600k such a favorable advantage. 3.6Ghz is a pretty pathetic oc for a 920.

Oh hey, a 4.8ghz cpu is faster than a 3.6ghz one. Who would have thought? Also, those are SLI/CFX results. You wont see a difference with one gpu.

I'd take 120Hz over 2048x1152 anyday. lmao. A stock 920 isn't a HIGH END PC... I've got a 2600k @ 4.8Ghz with the CPU and GPU water cooled. Maybe you should try playing on a high end PC too.
Who ever said i was at stock? I am running at 4ghz. Reason i havent gone 2600k and 580gtx is because the actual realworld game performance difference is not worth the price.

Oh and yes playing at a higher res is far better then playing at 120hz since i just vsync at 60hz anyway. I dont care about obscene frame rates.

I need 120hz, 60 hz gave me such migraines. And no it doesn't look better at higher res, I've played with 24" 1080P 60Hz LCDs.

Some people game using all three platforms, each one serves a different purpose, you're just being ignorant.

Once you're used to a higher Hz yes I can imagine using 60Hz again would hurt your eyes.

I didn't think LCD/TFT worked like that but live and learn eh

I thought just CRT's @ 60 were the brain kill.

so did your 60hz screen display a blank image at any time in the "refresh" Please explain.

was it something about it having a bad response rate?
