Default MultiGPU broken in 270.41.06 ?

My specs:
Intel QX9650 clocked to 4GHz
8GB RAM @ 1600MHz
ASUS ENGTX295 the dual-pcb version.

I'm running Fedora 15 x86-64 with gnome-shell and the 270.41.06 drivers.

As you can see in Xorg.0.log, my second gpu is properly detected and MultiGPU mode will be enabled.
However the performance in gnome-shell and various games like Doom3 and the dolphin wii/gamecube emulator is much worse.
The animations in gnome-shell are jumpy and lag.

When I disable MultiGPU by setting it to false in xorg.conf things will work like they should.
The gnome-shell animations will run smooth again and the fps will go up in Doom3 and the dolphin emulator.
But I'd like to see a performance hit when enabling MultiGPU.
Why does it get worse instead?
Am doing something wrong?

I'm not familiar with gnome-shell, but have you tried a different display manager? Does gnome-shell use compositing? Have you tried the environment variable for Doom3 that is mentioned in the nvidia installation faq?

I find that multi-gpu performance is better when playing Doom3 and I'm using the 270.41.06 drivers. However it gets super-flaky when compiz is running, so I have to disable it first. So maybe you have a gnome-shell related issued? I have also tried the variety of multi-gpu options (such as AA, SFR, etc.) and found that some options were much less flaky than others on compiz.
