So my sound card (X-Fi) is many years old, I got the XtremeMusic when it first came out. It's now starting to crackle and pop at various times. I've tried different headphones, same thing, and I doubt it is the PCI slot because this motherboard is pretty new. I don't have room to move it anyways.
So I'm looking for something new. Hopefully to match the sound quality of the x-fi if possible. However, I'm on a tight budget as I just spent nearly two grand on parts for my car... Is there anything out for less than a $100 that's decent? I was looking at this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...scrollFullInfo Any help is appreciated, specs in sig.

Forgot this board has PCI Express x1 slots. Hmm I may go for that one after I get my next paycheck. Thanks for the suggestion. Pretty tired of creative

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16829271006 is excellent. AWESOME drivers, they never crash.
If the price is too high, definitely grab that ASUS DX. I tried it, it is very nice for the price, same chip as the one I posted but more of a value card. |

I bought the DS along with the Corsair HS1 headset. The combination is pretty sweet. In BC2, I can hear people crouching through the bushes 50yds away. Not to mention I can hear a tank from anywhere on the map. Not kidding, the sounds are very distinctive. Movies sound good as well. The audio center has plenty of adjustments but make sure you have the older drivers. With the newest ones, don't remember version number, everything would washed together. Using the older drivers fixed that and haven't had any problem since.

I love it so much, it got me to register here! 5 star premium audio card.
HT Omega are definitely on the right track to make a dent in Creative's share of the market. I won't fall for their shenanigans anymore... not after trying a Titanium HD. Great card but still has HORRIBLE drivers and it had a problem with an echo in BC2. Never again. ![]() |

Yeah, I'm seriously considering buying a Asus Xonar DG 5.1.

On-board optical-out to optical-in on dedicated 5.1 A/V receiver FTW.

The DG is a nice card (I have one). If you are not using optical then its a great upgrade over on-board sound worth the money imo.
