Hi All, This is my first post here. I have Gateway DX4831 running Win 7 premium with a Core i3 530 processor running at 2.93 ghz, 1 TB harddrive, 6 meg ram and Inte intergrated graphics. I want to upgrade both my power supply (from present 300watt to 500 watt) and graphics card. I would like to be able to play some of todays modern games such as Modern Warefare, black ops, etc.... I don't know anything about graphic cards and have neem looking at Nvidia because I have that the type card before and it worked great. But I'm not sure what card I should order for my system. I hope I have provdied sufficient information on my system and expectations to allow you pros to offer some suggestions on what I want to consider getting. Thanks in advance for any assistance. I'll be happy to provide any additional information. As far as a budget is concerned, I would be willing to go up to $200 or so for the card. |

Welcome to the forum.
The GeForce 560 1GB at $199.99(shipping included) "here" fits the bill, if you have a PCI-e slot on that motherboard. Do you? That card has a 3 year limited warranty. This is the nVNews review of an overclocked 560 at: http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=159295 It's stickied at the top of this forum. A similar product from ATI is the Radeon HD 6950 1GB. It costs a bit more at $209.99 with MIR "here" and offers a bit more performance. Here is a comparative review of those 2 cards at Guru3d. You can't go wrong with either of those cards, but I personally still prefer nVidias driver interface. The ATI drivers are a lot better than they used to be though. |
