I am thinking about playing around with iOS development on my hackintosh. I have played around with the Android SDK. Setting it all up is kind of a PITA, but it ran pretty well and I didn't get much further than the standard "hello world" beginning.
Any of you guys write apps for Android or iOS? If so, what have you done? Anyone sell apps and make some cash on the side? |

If youre looking to make serious money in the side, forget it. Apple, etc. Takes most of the money.

I'm not. I just want to learn some new things and mess around with my mobile devices. Maybe make a little cash on the side, or none. I am thinking about learning the UDK as well.

Well anyone can sign up:
developer.apple.com It costs $99/Year to access dev tools, though. |

apple takes .30 for every dollar you make. I wanted to get into it but once I did a little research I figured out my C experience didnt translate very well to the object oriented discipline. There are some great iTunes U classes from stanford I believe on getting started tho

Just wrote my first "Hello world" type app. It's different than the IDE's I am used to. There seem to be quite a few nice features.

I've been wanting to make mobiles app for a while now, but work has got really busy over the last year. Once some of my projects can clear up this fall, I've thought about diving into mobile development. Yeah, I probably won't make any money on the side or anything, but it would be fun to put on my resume.

Haven't messed with it for a few days since I've been really busy with work. It seems like there's a steep learning curve to Xcode4 and the objective C it uses, but once you get the hang of it, making apps is very simple.
Here are some of the videos I have been following: http://www.youtube.com/user/bstahlhood He goes through it pretty well. |
