Default Takeing That Middle GTX 470 did wonders

I been running Tri-SLI with three GTX 470's,but I have a Gigabyte GA-X58-UD5 so they were sandwhich right next to each other .I have a LIAN LI PC-K62 Case that had a window in the side but no Fan hole, but this was good because I could mount the 140mm right over all three cards. It put out over 100cmf ,but it was quiet.Just running it at 700/1400/1800 with only .05v extra I had to keep the fan at 90% to keep it around 85c.I was'nt sure it would work with the 3 way SLI since nothing would be in the middle ,plus the bottom slot was PCIe 8x.The book said to make sure if you were running two cards make sure they were in PCIe slot 1 and PCIe slot two.To make a long story shorter once I set it up that way my idle tempertures drop to 34c and 32c.Now when I run a benchmark like vantge or 3Dmark 11 it does good to reach 70c and that with the fan set at 75% and default voltage.I have'nt missed the extra power yet,the games I been playing have more then enough power to play them maxed out at 1920x1080 on my 47" LG HDTV.It's weird I was always used to my top card running around 15c hotter then my other two ,now my secound slot runs a little hotter, only 2C hotter .I wonder if that is because the secound one only runs at 8x while the top one still runs at 16x.It runs no slower because of the one running at 8x in fact it is faster, but that could be because of driver updates. It was worth the 10FPS to 15FPS lost in some game just for the cooler tempertures and most of all the Quiteness.
