I have no idea what happened, but the chip AMD sent back to me is wayyyyyy better than the one I sent them. It's still an 965BE, but the overclocking capabilities are head, neck, and shoulders above the first 965BE I had.
Previous chip: 3.9Ghz @ 1.475v multi: 16x NB multi: 11x New chip: 4Ghz @ 1.425v multi: 16x NB multi: 11x AMD has truly improved their chips in the last 1 1/2 years. On top of that, under OCCT, it hits about 50C as opposed to the 55-56C on my last chip. Now I really want to see what this chip can do! ![]() btw, this is my first test on this chip. According to current user reviews from newegg, this chip can do a lot more at lower voltage. I'm very encouraged by this. ![]()

Now I hate my RAM. It doesn't clock high enough. That means I now have to tweak the multipliers to get higher speeds.

Temperatures are lower, clock speeds are higher, and I hit this level instantly. This is before I've done any sort of tweaking at all. That 3.9Ghz @ 1.475v on the old chip was after weeks of tweaking and testing. The fact that I'm able to hit those speeds at lower voltage is a really good sign; it means that I can tweak this chip a lot more.
At the moment, I am fully stable @ 4Ghz (16x multi) 1.425v , 10x250mhz NB, RAM at 1666mhz. Big note is that my ram is only rated for 1600mhz, and it's easily hitting performance numbers higher than that. So yes, I'm impressed with this. I've gained 100+ mhz for free, and that's only the initial test. Give me a week or 2, and we'll see what this chip can really do. ![]()

Looks like a great chip.
I couldn't get 4.0 stable at any sort of sane voltage. I have no issues running 3.9 at all. I'd try to push your NB speed up, I found it made as much if not more difference than adding the equivalent mhz to the overall clockspeed. Cheers, JC

100MHZ?
Wow. I just bust a nut thinking about how much faster your rig will run. |
