Well, I still think it's just a bad card. **** happens, what can I say? It's very unlikely that you'd get two in a row, but it does happen. As long as they'll take it back, I'd definitely take that card back and get another.
hey Chalnoth...are you going to buy the third card???

(BTW just bought the Antec true550w PSU)

Heh. I was assuming you could get a full refund on the card...something that you presumably couldn't get on the motherboard.

If you would have to pay for it either way, then replacing the motherboard would be prudent.

" In the past weekend I have had a leadtek Gf4 Ti 4400, and a
Gainward GF4 Ti 4600 blow up. Neither of these cards have
been overclocked. The leadtek was only 3 months old, and
the Gainward was 2 days old."

Hello,

Just a thought, when you installed your new geforce card are you
sure that not perhaps some electric statical charges were
responsible for damaging your card?
IF you are wearing the wrong shoes on some rugs and you forget to earth
yourself before you start a computer surgery ... then BANG.
The voltage is very high though not dangerous for humans but deadly for the hardware or the card.

hmmm.. do you think that my 500W power supply could blow my card? the AGP slot that I have is AGP 3.0 certified, not 2.0, but 3.0, and I don't know if that is too much for my video card. Should I watch out?

If the supply is branded by any of the following:
DEER, ALLIED, AUSTIN, or repackages of same,
You are skrood.
Get an enermax or some other good name.

blow my card?"

Even if your power supply supports 500,000,000 W
it will not destroy your computer if it's technically running well.

PS: I got a hardware crash with a graphics card
that DESTROYED the power supply. It sounds very strange, but it happened. The mobo is unable to boot anything since this event.

I killed one Gainward TI4600 on an Epox 8KHA by breaking the capacitor that colides with the one on the Mboard right at the end of the AGP slot , you have to look close to notice the break but it was enough.. (causes your memory to fry pretty quick, lot's of lovely coloured lines ).
Made sure I didn't fully lock down the second card so no pressure was put on the 2 touching parts worked fine since then, right up to upgrading to a Rad9700 (gota go!! my machine is due to randomly reboot any moment ).
