Default Ubuntu 11.04 graphics card recommendation

I'd like a recommendation on a video card with 2 or more DVI ports.

Background...
I have ubuntu 11.04 64 bit, graphics is ATI Radeon built into the motherboard.
DVI and VGA port and supports dual display.
Using the proprietary ATI drivers it works fine for a single monitor connected to VGA but I have a number of problems when using both the DVI & VGA port . Blinking display, X freezing. I managed to get the displays to clone at low resolution but every adjustment using the ATI Catalyst Control center requires a reboot and often I the adjustment fails and I have to reboot into recovery mode to get a display again.

I don't mind spending the money to buy a card known to work well. My ideal goal would be to run 4 monitors DVI. My motherboard has two PCIe 2 slots with crossfire but I'm not interested in gaming. I can't get something that runs real hot as I haven't put any extra effort into cooling. My MB also has two pci slots.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Anyone who has had success setting up multiple monitors for business with ubuntu 11.04.
