I don't think so at all. It's just a good method of scaling. They can easily claim their engine is unlimited but every % increase likely adds the equivalent % increase in CPU power needed.

I'll be impressed if it can be animated as easily as polygons, also if they can scale the points down to quark size.

No it can't be animated as easy, which is why the industry doesn't use it. this isn't new technology. It's a system similar to voxels. Mine craft dev stated this isnt feasible currently in a real world use. They never even shown it running in realtime or provided technical data...

Also they have been showing the tech from year 2003 onward, so this is not some new tech either.
One would expect them to have even tried some form of object rotation and animation already..

also waching the video, there is no specular modern graphic effects, I wonder how it would run then?
