I don't keep up with Seagate because I don't sell their drives, but I did find this email from one of my distributors very interesting.
It was titled "Seagate HDD Warranty" "Please note all Seagate HDD hard drives warranty had been changed from 3 years to 2 years as of 1st of July. Exceptions on Constellation and Pipeline series still remain 5 years. Seagate didnt officially announce it because WD is not going to follow suit but thats the fact due to all drives in stock are already 2 years warranty. Thanks." Is this old news??? First I heard of it was this email from a few weeks back.

Dang only owned seagate drives and have never ever had a problem with them. I know they had a disastrous firmware issue a bit ago but always thought they were up there with the best. Likely go wd next build

and WD bought Hitachi HDD division both companies are not great, seagate is tumbling down a hill, WD is doing better, just their "green" drives are rather crappy. |

i'm scared for samsung drive tech, WD might adapt/start selling hitachi drives in their black line.
would be nice if WD drop their green drives and replace them with hitachi coolspin drives, 5400rpm, but much more reliable then WD and faster too. |
