I'd say it's more of a bootloader feature. The hardware manufacturer (or some modders) needs to support it. But maybe I've missed something...

It's an Android feature because it's fully integrated.

Ubuntu and Android share the same kernel, running at the same time, accessing data and applications

So it's an ARM version of Ubuntu sharing resources with Android simultaneously. It's not just a "boot into Ubuntu" option. It needs manufacturer support for drivers and integration into the Android kernel.

Admit it, it's an awesome concept. It'd be great to see this on a Nexus device.

I think you're splitting hairs. Sure it will be device specific. But the only available mobile OS that will support this will be Android. It could drive Android sales, so I would consider it an Android feature.

Siri is specific to the iPhone 4S. Is it not an iOS feature? That's only one model out of a line of phones running the same OS.

Generally android is developed in Eclipse framework but Ubuntu is the well secured. I think it is made up of a DOS. Totally Error free so be more useful.

In general, Siri is part of iOS 5.
Ubuntu is not part of Android on the other hand. I see it as a standalone feature or a device/hardware feature. Not as an Android feature directly.

Again, you're splitting hairs. Because it's not made by Google it's not an 'Android feature'? Fine, because that doesn't matter when the platform is the only one that can run the feature.

Anyway, I'm curious to see if this concept gets adopted quickly. I doubt it. I don't think it's an important or even appealing feature for the mass-market. And companies like Samsung or HTC make mostly consumer devices. Besides, they have their hands full just dealing with the already horrible Android fragmentation. They don't really need another OS to make it even more complex for them.

Well, it depends. They seem to be targeting the productivity market, so mostly business people and the like. Problem is, that market needs Microsoft Office, and current Linux-based Office variants work, but are sub par compared to MS Office itself.

Also, companies don't have as many problems with "Android fragmentation" as you would think. They do like Apple did with older iPhones: declare the product EOL and move on to the next device.

As for the topic, meh. Not interested. iOS is still the best mobile OS IMO and nothing comes close.

Apple could do this with iOS and OSX. iOS is based on OSX. I think PC's and Phones could merge like this down the road. Most if not all of OSX Mountain Lion's features are taken from iOS.

Ok, running Ubuntu on a phone could be useful.
