Hello!
For a while we had two very different LCD-displays connected to this computer and things were working properly. We now replaced the older display with a shiny new one and the picture on it is annoyingly wrong: all four edges can not be seen as if the picture is bigger, than the actual screen... The troublesome monitor (DFP-0) does not have a DVI-connector and connects via a DVI->HDMI cable. The older (DFP-1) connects with a regular DVI-cable and "just works". They are the same size and come from the same manufacturer. The native resolution of both is 1920x1080 and the MetaModes settings in my xorg.conf says: "1920x1080,1920x1080". The two monitors are identified as (full Xorg.log with verbosity set to 9 is attached):
How do I force the DFP-0 monitor to show full picture properly? Or is DVI->HDMI conversion somehow responsible? Thanks! |

Since this hasn't been answered, I'll have a go. Usually, this is something to do with the "overscan" or "scaling" setting on the display itself, not the driver/card setup. It's unique to HDMI, which is why your DVI equipped display doesn't show the "problem" (it's actually a feature, but not in this situation), and you'll need to go through your OSD menu and find the relevant bit to tweak. On mine it would be scaling, set to 1:1 to disable overscan.
