Default a few questions on blu ray playback

First off, Br drive is this one
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827106325

second the program it came with was power dvd 8 that is installed and up to date,
but when i put a br movie in the program either says the disk in the drive is an unknown format or it will say no disk in the drive.....retarded

and i have the trial for power dvd 11
this one will sometimes say the same thing but if you but a br movie in 11 will start playing it fine....

also tonight i bought star wars on bluray and ive noticed it likes to mess up...very crappy going to have to see if i can exchange my copy...
ive uploaded a video of it

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NhcYOlQNokQ

sometimes its a little worse...

when i run the cyberlink bd advisor it says br drive not found...

double check that your drive firmware is all up to date. unfortunately BD is a still evolving media that requires constant updates to both firmware and hardware. no standards were ever put into place and there is a lot of "optional" content that will break older bd players.

if still no go, i'd look into purchasing another bd drive. odds are yours is out of date to the point where firmware won't fix your issues.

lucas decided to use new encryption/scrambling system that is not compatible by some players.

on PC, powerdvd is not compatible, but TMT plays them fine
http://www.arcsoft.com/estore/softwa...ductCode=TMT5P

some standalone blu-ray players (the ones that you plug into TV) also have same issues.

this is just another example of movie studios, trying to prevent copying, that just ends up hurting end consumer.

on PC, firmware for a drive will not fix playback. what you need is updates software. See previous post, powerdvd needs to be updated by cyberlink, totalmedia theater plays star wars discs just fine.

on standalone player that is a different story, firmware and software is one and the same.

I really don't think that is an encryption issue, otherwise you'd get no video at all.

If it is an encryption issue, that can be solved with anydvd hd. Just rip it, and play it from your HDD.
