Default How do I force lower performance mode on 460m?

Hi,

Whenever I take my laptop on the road the nvidia card is eating most of the battery power. I can't seem to get it to clock down, despite putting a few settings that I thought would do the job in xorg.conf.

Am I missing anything here? Is there another file I should be worrying about modifying? I'd like my laptop to last longer than an hour - on lowest nvidia performance mode, even with the screen up high, when I do nothing at all with the laptop, it lasts 3 hours and I'm locking the CPU down low. I'd like to be able to get that while actually performing screen activities that usually bump up the performance mode. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
