+1. Played through that one twice and had an absolute BLAST each time. It doesn't pretend to be something that it's not.

I'm enjoying it finally, and with the config I have now the game is hands down the best looking game I've ever played. Just want to get rid of the damn crosshair.

I definitely like Rage better than Bulletstorm. I had to force my self to eventually finish Bulletstorm.

The gameplay in Rage reminds me a lot of Singularity, with it's similar weapons and awesome character animations, which is one of my favorite shooters from the last year or so, only I'd say Rage beats Singularity in almost every category but story.

Sounds is one area where Rage stands out to me. I can't think of another game that rumbles my subwoofer as much as Rage. Pistols, shotguns, and running wide open in a V10 Caprino really feel awesome as far as bass goes.

Just so you know, the patch diabled many of the options are that floating around in some of the configs on the web. In fact the big thread on the Steam forums that has these huge "HD" configs are all bogus. Only about 5% of all the settings actually do anything.

If you really want to use these kind of configs you should revert your game to a pre-patch state. A couple of people posted the old files on Steam before they got removed, but I'm sure you can find them somewhere.

As for the game, I'm really liking it, but it's way too easy. Even on the hardest difficulties it's not even remotely difficulty. The gameplay is definitely designed around using a controller.

1920x1080, 16xAA, vsync on, GPU transcode off.

There's a 4th command that a lot of people are setting to 8192 or 16384 (vt_pageimagesizevmtr), but apparently it won't go over 4096 so just leave it. There isn't a noticeable difference in texture quality between 16384 and 8192, but 16384 completely resolves the texture pop-in issue for me.

At 16xAA my FPS are between 20 and 30. Totally playable for me since I play on my HDTV with a 360 controller. I prefer lower FPS anyway as I think it makes games look more cinematic. Also, 16xAA completely removes all jaggies and shimmering.

I "upgraded" to the latest beta Nvidia drivers last night and what a huge let down. There is texture flickering all over the place when I was in the dead city. It looked like the flashing you'd see if there were items to pickup in that area. I am going back to the WHQL drivers cause that flickering is absolutely unacceptable to me. I think the beta drivers are broken for Rage, the performance feels a bit better on the beta drivers than the WHQL but I'd rather have no flickering textures when I play than a few extra fps.

The beta drivers were bad for me as well, 280.26 runs it pretty well.

think my 470's can handle 16K textures? I'm probably going to pick this up later in the year depending on whether or not when/if ID releases a higher res texture pack or how soon steam takes to put it on sale (which I'm guessing won't be long at all).

16K textures are worthless in regard to fidelity. The textures are still awful inside places but outside they're better.

The game has been running great for me. 1920x1200, Transcode and Vsync: On
I've noticed no technical issues at all.
I'm enjoying RAGE, I know because I keep going too it
My complaint is the driving and vehicle combat..there's to much of it and its not very well done.
