gnome-shell is unusable in Debian

I have this problem with nvidia drivers:

Yes , I also have a great problem with nvidia prop. drivers. But not the same as your's. I see all the gnome-shell components but the animations are very slow and unsmooth and hence it is not usable.NVIDIA developers need to work on this.

Just a wild guess: have you installed version 2:1.11.1-1 of the package xserver-xorg-core? If so, take a look here and here
