Hybrid Graphics & Linux

So..
Are there any plans from nVidia to make their driver work on a Intel iGPU + nVidia dGPU yet?

I dont care about being able to switch cards, I only want to use the GOD DAMN nvidia GPU I paid for (actually when I bought the computer I didnt know it had Hybrid Graphics due to incomplete documentation from the vendor... (cant return it)).

BTW This does not seem to be Optimus but the old kind of Hybrid Graphics (even though the computer is less than a year old).

Also, There is no Hardware switch to turn off the intel thing in this computer, nor a option in BIOS (actually im trying to hack the option into the Insyde BIOS but i've failed so far).

It seems that nouveau is gonna win this one...

what laptop? can you disable the Intel video in BIOS?

Long answer:
I followed this guide (and others) to pull apart the BIOS and get the Setup Utillity, from it I found this:

Option 'Hybrid' = 0x2 Flags 0x1 Key 0x0

As you can see, there is only one 'Option' operator, which means unless HP releases a BIOS update, I'm stuck on 'Hybrid, and, apparently HP is never going to do so.

Just as a reference, another computer (VAIO) with a insyde BIOS has this other 'Option' operators.

I think nouveau wins again, damn it the nvidia driver is getting so outdated... I cant wait for ubuntu to switch to wayland...

and it is gonna be more interesting when fedora switches too, and suddenly nobody uses the binary driver... (but hollywood)

Ironhide (https://github.com/MrMEEE/ironhide/) or bumblebee (https://github.com/Bumblebee-Project/Bumblebee) both work well for me for hybrid intel/nvidia graphics. You normally run the intel driver but can use the nvidia card for 3d-intensive apps like games. If you're running Ubuntu there are PPAs you can use. You can even configure them to turn off the nvidia card when it's not being used, which saves a significant amount of power.
