Hi everybody,
this is my first post in this forum. I'm experiencing really really poor Flash video performance with my nVidia graphic card. When I see a video on some site on internet, the video always has a jerky playback, the only site with an acceptable quality is YouTube. I think it's a driver problem, could please suggest me any "tricky" configuration? Here's some information: Graphic card: nVidia GT 8600 Driver version: nVidia 285.05.09 (latest at the moment I'm writing) OS: Ubuntu 11.10 Hardware: Intel Pentium D 3.00 GHZ (dual core), 32 bit, 3 GB RAM X Server: xorg version 11.0 with GNOME and Compiz (Ubuntu Unity Desktop) Options in my xorg.conf file: Option "PixmapCacheSize" "300000" Option "OnDemandVBlankInterrupts" "True" Script that runs on init: nvidia-settings -a InitialPixmapPlacement=2 -a GlyphCache=1 Browser: Chromium 14.0.835.202 Flash player plugin version: Shockwave Flash 11.0r1 or 10.3r183 I also read in some forum that is useful to put these lines in /etc/adobe/mms.cfg : OverrideGPUValidation = 1 EnableLinuxHWVideoDecode=1 but I don't have any mms.cfg! So I tried to create it and to put the lines above in it (I also tried one line at time), but nothing changed. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks in advice |

That settings only works with web sites using flash players with adobe stage video technology.
To know if your settings has been applied, watch a video on youtube, go fullscreen and with right mouse button select video info from popup menu. You should see "accelerated video decoding" if your card supports vdpau and "accelerated video rendering" if you're using flash version 10.x (in 11.x adobe disabled it for linux clients). |

HI kokoko3k,
thanks for your reply. Which settings you refer to? The ones in mms.cfg file or the ones in xorg.conf? BTW following your indications I've got these results: Flash player plugin 11.0r1 --> software video rendering, accelerated video decoding Flash player plugin 10.3r183 --> accelerated video rendering, accelerated video decoding So it seems version 10.3 it's better. But this did not solve my problem. Do you have any other suggestions? Thanks |
