Default How to install X-Fi Audio Panel for Windows 7?

Hi

I installed windows 7 but found that I cannot install the cd content. It says non supported OS, and only works in XP.

I have found that I cannot download the cd content (which installs THX options, Console Launcher, Volume Panel, Audio Panel with many options like crystalizer, etc) from creative site, only drivers and the console launcher.

How us windows 7 users can install the cd content?

Scroll just a little way down and you'll see the links for win7 beta drivers and apps. Working fine for me so far on an X-Fi Xtreme gamer.

What exact card do you have X-Fi Xtreme Audio, X-Fi Fatal1ty?
There should be a link on the right hand side. (Windows 7™ Driver Compatibility) here:
http://support.creative.com/KB/showa...sid=61105&h=13
That list should give you the driver you need for your card, as for the apps click on beta applications and download the newest of each.

I think back when I was setting up my X-Fi for Win7 I used the auto update thing. It's to the top right of the list. Its a small blue button that says change configuration or use auto update. If I remember right auto update grabbed everything I needed.

X-Fi XtremeGamer
The driver I installed, its just for the sound, it does not install Audio Panel etc

I click on Application and Beta Application but it lists other things than the ones I can install from CD! Console Launcher and Alchemy. I dont think its Alchemy?
Autoupdate also lists different things, not what I can install from CD.

The win7 drivers and applications are still in the beta stage, so they may have changed and look and be labeled differently than what shipped on the cd.

I just want to know if anyone else with windows 7 and an X-Fi card has Audio Panel and other CD programs installed, if so what exactly did he download, because I can't find anything in Application.
I'ts not Mediasource, not WaveStudio, not Console Launcher, and probably not Alchemy. That's what listen under Application.

Whats weird is that I cant download the CD apps for XP as well, what makes me think the CD apps are not available for download, only on CD, which is not supported by windows 7.

That first link I pointed you to installed the driver and audio panel for me.

If other programs listed on the cd aren't on that page or being downloaded through the auto updater, they probably aren't available yet.

I just found out I have audio panel installed

I guess the driver installed it or the console launcher

I still miss some applications I had from the cd like THX options (for bass boost) but this is the main thing I missed

Thanks for the help.

I'm not at my pc at the moment, but I seem to remember seeing a THX panel built into the audio panel?? I'll check later, but their driver development is SLOW to say the least

Right now I'm just happy it works as advertised.

Creative drivers are the single reason you cannot get audio hardware acceleration in windows vista/7.
They caused SOOOOO many crashes, that microsoft had to prevent them to reach the hardware...
