Question Screen flickers every few minutes with openSuse 11.4

My laptop screen flickers one time every few minutes. I'm quite sure it started when I've installed the x11-video-nvidiaG02 package in the software management of YAST.
I've tried to install following version of nvidia drivers (showed in nvidia-settings):
- Linux-x86_64, Version 275.21 was installed after the package was added
- Version 285.05.09 is the newest version and didn't change the behavior
- Version 270.41.19: I hoped, the older Version wouldn't have this problem. I'm sorry that the problem still exists.
Please give me an idea what I could do - I couldn't find any helpful hint.

My Hardware: Laptop Acer Aspire 5920G, GeForce 8600M GT
Linux: openSuse 11.4;

Just to eliminate a hardware problem, do you have windows installed as well and does the issue persist there? Also what happens when using an external monitor, does the issue persist?

VeryPrivat, Please provide nvidia bug reprot by runnning nvidia-bug-report.sh as root. Also explain reprodudtion steps . What desktop env you are using gnome/kde? Is desktop effects enabled? Also check powermizer level in nvidia-settings that can be help you to find out some clue.

Default Screen flickers every few minutes with openSuse 11.4

@Deanjo: Windows is not available. But my Linux KDE Live CD works without any flickers.
@sandipt: I attached the nvidia-bug-report.log.gz (hope it works)
- No special reproduction steps it seems to start after the nvidia logo at the booting sequence of the graphical linux part appears.
- I'm using KDE (actual updated)
- Desktop effects are enabled (I love them)
- Powermizer level is maximum performance (not changeable?)
- Performance level is 1 at the moment - but i think this changes sometimes, doesn't it?
- Prefered mode is adaptive

I think this issue has been fixed in latest drivers , Try

ftp://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Li..._64-290.03.run
ftp://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Li...-285.05.09.run

Thanks for this hint, I've already tested the newest driver available at the nvidia homepage when selecting my system it's the 285.05.09 (mentioned in my first post). I didn't find the 290.03 - does it really work with the GeForce 8600M GT? I'll try and post (if I don't shoot my system). Wish me luck

Default 290.03 ended in a disaster

So, installing the 290.03 driver ended in a disaster:
- In the nvidia logo at start up there is some additional red text but I could not read it...
- The flickering still appeared
- The test ended in the Bug#260360 (not sure if the driver is the reason) - it cost me some hours to fix it.

I found out a interesting behavior: When I add an additional monitor with twin view (means I can move the mouse to the other monitor and work there) the flickering is gone. PowerMizer stays always in Performance Level 2. I'd be glad if I could solve the problem when using only the laptop screen.

Meanwhile I found out, that this may be a common problem with this hardware configuration. The reason is powermizer that changes graphic card speed. Every change causes a flicker. I've no idea to select powermizer to a defined level and easily change it when necessary. Any ideas? Please let me know...
