Hmmm doesn't make sense...If Newell's analogy of not wanting to let customers down with release dates is the problem then why not just do a 'its ready when its ready' statement but at least an announcement would be nice...And same analogy doesn't apply to CSGO ?...

Its not the release date.. its the "We know you would really like to see it... but we can't commit to it now" that is hard to come out. If they let on that there is a high probability of it being done, if not in the works now, then people will demand more info from them. And if the project is let go in the future due to lack of resources or company interest after telling the fans that "yea, were doing it" then the fans get even more pissed.

That's the part that made me think this "might" be genuine. It sounds like something Gabe would come out with under enough pressure while still not revealing any info.
