As the title says, the 290.06 driver does not see the internal display and hence X errors out with "no screens found". No full bug report for now, as I've reverted back to 275.28 to have a working machine, but the relevant part from Xorg.0.log is this:

Hi there
![]() I have the same problem with driver version 290.03 and 290.06. The configuration stored in xorg.conf works well with the 280.13-1 driver. After finish the 290.0x driver installation I run the nvidia-xconfig and there is no error but after restart gdm3 there is no internal display. If I connect an external display the gnome-shell shows up. I run the nvidia-settings and I can see that the driver cannot find the internal display. nVidia Corporation G73 [GeForce Go 7700] (rev a1) Debian SID Linux_Kernel 3.1.0-1-amd64 Gnome Version 3.0.2 nvidia-bug-report.log.tar.7z |

I tried the oficial driver from nvidia site and the resul is the same; (EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration.. It is a beta version and is normal that something is wrong but I see that there isn't many people whit this problem. here it is the log http://microcris.no.sapo.pt/coisas/n...rt.log.tar.bz2 |

I think the problem may be in the digital port.
The 280.13 driver uses DPF-0 port to connect the internal display When I install 290.06 driver and force it to see a display connected in DFP-0 the driver says that there is no DFP-0 port available. There is only DFP-1, CRT and TV ports. |

I went through the logs... one funny thing (not funny haha, but funny weird), there's no nvidia in /proc/interrupts with the non-working 290.06 driver. Another curiosity, Video BIOS in /proc/driver/nvidia/gpus/0/information is ?? with the non-working driver. |

I am seeing this still with my Geforce Go 7400 x32 with Ubuntu using the 290.10 driver. Relevant portion of the Xorg.0.log file is:
