Haven't played Dark Souls. I'm not saying the combat in Skyrim is perfect, it's just my little opinion that it feels right for the genre. You do have to manually dodge and dance around a lot to avoid getting hit. My fight last night with the final undead guy in the first dungeon was awesome.

I'm sure there are people who are unhappy with many of the mechanics in Skyrim because they aren't like Game X, but I'm liking it. The game has been incredibly stable so far, looks beautiful, and has a great sense of immersion. I could waste my time nit-picking it to death, but I'd rather spend that time enjoying what Bethesda did right.

Bethedsa raging on the PC. Apparently drivers are solely responsive for the games problems, like sh*tty mouse movement, bad FOV and terrible textures. lol If they made it half as good as The Witcher 2, they might learn something. I just don't like the biased rhetoric coming from game developers who love their pre-set console hardware. That sort of talk just puts me off their game but as usual the PC modders will fix it for them.

You know as a business it's just a bad idea to hit on parts of your custom like they do, it's terrible way to run a business on a mulitplatform scale. It's like saying, 'we don't care about the poor people who buy our products, we look after the rich people who buy more and we give them better service'. Game developers have become ever more ignorant and arrogant to the people who made them what they are and their community.

I'm going to play The Witcher 2 for a while until I calm down a bit.

The industry needs a huge shake up. I thought it would be indie gaming, but it's just made it worse.

Anyway, has anyone had random purple objects/textures in the game? I was playing last night and some random trees and a giant appeared as solid purple objects! Sort of like mods not installed properly in Oblivion?

You can buy a horse at Whiterun Stables but it's 1000 gold.

Are there different horses? I found once place selling at 500, another at 1000 but they are all just 'horse'.

Also the purple glitch was fixed when I restarted the game. Loaded the save and it was fine. Must have just had issues streaming some textures?

The game looks great but the mouse lag is what is making me sick. I don't care who fixes it, just fix it.

The sharpening mod and these tweaks (http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11) look great. I tried the DNA extreme config, but that made indoor performance drop through the floor, and enabling SSAO in Nvidia inspected caused crashes for me (I might play with that some more later).

So far south-eastern Skyrim is my favorite area. The landscapes there are beautiful (lots of mountains, waterfalls and bridges), even if the people that live there are on the nasty side.

Also, the AI needs a tweak - attacking a sabre cat with no weapons and armor is a good way to get killed. Poor bugger didn't even last two seconds. Oh well, one less idiot to escort.

I've also had fun identifying where Bethseda pulled ideas from mods. The Oblivion harvest mod is the most obvious, but you can see influences (or what at least appear to be community influences) in leveling, encounters and weather.

And the landmass is friggin huge. I thought it was going to be same size as Oblivion, but it feels far, far larger (another article said that it was 40 square kilometers vs Oblivion's 16; not sure which was way it is, but it definitely feels like the later).

Has anyone seen the kill animation for the wolf/fox where you kick the wolf in the face and then slams the weapon down onto it's head? I laughed my ass off when I saw that one.
