I had set skyrim to NOT automatically update via steam but apparently it decides it will update anyways....

welp, my game is now crashing immediately upon loading a save game.

I can still play it if I copy my original EXE file back into the game's directory with the LAA setting enabled. It loads fine, no crashes or anything but for some reason the key bindings are acting all messed up.

For example, I can't fast travel any more. I open the map and left click on a location and it simply closes the map.

WTF?!

There's no key binding for that in the options either.

The other strange keybinding I've noticed is that during lock picking, to turn the lock assembly, I have to hold down the left click button rather than the D key. It's almost like the left arrow's binding has been messed up because left arrow (I'm using a nostromo N52) is what opens/closes my map.

time to go change that arrow's function. will inform of results.

Edit: Nope. Changing the map key binding doesn't fix it. clicking on a location still closes the map I have to get from Riften to Solitude!! FUUUUUUUUU!!!

How do remove quests?

I have a ton of quests and a bunch I have no intention of doing (not within my players character/alignment)...

Discovered that the interface.bsa file is what's causing the problem. It got updated.

Luckily I found an older version that someone uploaded! Worked great!

Here's the link for those who need it.

http://search.4shared.com/postDownlo...Interface.html

I've backed it up into my skyrim backup folder just in case it gets patched again I can copy it back.

Everything works fine again after replacing the .exe and the interface.bsa. LAA works as well. No CTDs

Apparently, this update is mandatory even if you disabled the auto-updateing. I'm going to check that myself the next time I start the PC/Steam. Just to be safe, I set the .bsa to read-only. The .exe probably needs to be writeable because of the LAA fix (got an error earlier, need to check that again).
Turning off auto-updating doesn't work with this game. Both patches have come through even with it off. Kinda defeats the purpose of having it as option.

I decided to say screw Steam and Bethesda and downloaded the 1.1 version crack off of a torrent. Steam can't update my game now because I don't use it anymore.

I bought their game legit, they can kiss my ass from here on out.

I've backed up my entire game directory just in case.

I don't think there's a hard level cap but once you max out most of the skills you use, other skills don't contribute to level progress as much. I'm sure if you had 100 in every skill it would be somewhere around 70-ish but there's not much point in doing that. Right now I'm level 50 though.

You can't "cancel" quests in this game, I know what you mean, it can be irritating seeing a ton of quests at once when you only plan on completing a few of them.

After you proceed a few steps in the main quest, you'll kill a dragon in a scripted event. From then on, dragons will attack somewhat randomly in any area and you can find them roosting on most of the mountain tops. There are usually words of power there too. Just be careful because at least one of them has a non-leveled Dragon Priest enemy right near the dragon wall and he's pretty tough at low level.

The awesome folks at WSGF just released an update to the Eyefinity/Surround tool for 1.2 found here: http://widescreengamingforum.com/dr/...ls-v-skyrim/en

Apparently it also fixes character creation which was bugged in previous versions of the tool, but unfortunately it requires 1.2.

There's also a fix for the bugged resistances if you have that problem here: http://forums.bethsoft.com/index.php...extender-skse/

Unfortunately, no fix for backwards flying dragons yet. I'm still on 1.1 personally, copied over my entire skyrim directory and am playing off that one while Steam can go update the original directory all it wants.

Same here. I moved it to my SSD before Steam's first "patch". Aside from the occasional crash and the normal nitpicks, the game is very stable as-is for me even with extreme tweaks. I'm in love with Skyrim

Yes, done that thanks... my character is lvl40, he just got 100 in Smithing and Enchanting, so now I'm wanting to put double enchantments on some dragon armour... ... but I have no dragon scales left so I need to find me some dragon scales... my character is badass, I focus heavily on health and defense... I can sit in front of an angry mammoth and he can plummel me for 10min and hardly do a dent...
