Does a mage have the armor penalty like in Oblivion? Or can mages wear armor and use swords without penalty?

It goes right upto 81, but to get that far you have to make use of some daedric artefacts I think.

My guy finished out at about 46, my thief skills were almost maxed, I intend to play some more as him with the mages quest and level my magics skills up when the DLCs start to arrive.

there's no such thing as a "mage". there are simply players who cast spells. Cast enough spells, you get good at it. Swing a sword enough and you get good at it. Wear heavy armor and cast spells and you'll be good at wearing heavy armor and casting spells.

etc.

what you do dictates what you're good at. never pickpocket people and you will be bad at pickpocketing, etc.

I finished the main story over the weekend but I still have tons to do. I'm always finding new trouble to get into. I did the quest last night with the guy who's trying to start a museum in one of the towns and needs pieces of a dagger (they are calling it a Razor). What a crazy ending that quest had. Loving it!

I'm noticing the Dragon attacks have really intensified since I beat the main questline. I get at least 1 dragon per town I visit it, it's crazy.

Looks like the 1.3 update is out, with LAA enabled by default!

Also, standing outside near the doors to Ulfric Stormcloak's chamber in Windhelm, if you look down at the ground, there's this massive hideous blob of gray that I'm not sure what it's supposed to be. easily the worst texture in the game at this point.

I've got screenshots at the house I could post up after work.
Hey Man

Thanks for the kind words

It looks like were going to need the CK to fix a lot of the texture issues, this is because Beth have taken textures and stretched them beyond all recognition in a lot of places,so just throwing high res stuff at them isn't really going to help much at this moment theres also some major misalignment problems which are made much more obvious when taking stuff high rez

Dont get me wrong I really love Skyrim as a game but it's lack of polish in some area's really does have a nasty jar'ing effect while playing, thankfully there a community of modder's out there who will buff it up for us
