Default Windows Recovery Console Password

I am working on this computer for a customer and they have the Stop error "C000021a" System Fatal Error message. I read that it could be the last installed update from Windows. I am trying to remove it from the Windows Recovery Console but it is asking for a Admin Password in the Console. I asked the customer if there was a password set up and they said that there is not. Is there anyway to bypass this?

In short, No
But you could boot the machine with a Ulitimate boot cd for windows and change the password.

How far does the machine boot , when trying with safe mode?

Gets the same Stop Error when trying to load into Safe Mode.

You can leave the password blank sometimes. If it is an OEM machine there is no telling. Have you tried running chkdsk /P ? I find myself constantly surprised how many dead windows installs this has fixed out in the field. You do have to get to a recovery console going or boot in to plain dos to run it.

Happened to me years ago when my sister PC crashed and cannot booted. Went to Recovery Console then it asked for admin password, completed forgetten the password after years and had tried enter as many passwords I can think of but it wont let me in, blank password didnt worked either. After that I browsed internet for Windows administrator password reset tool and downloaded Offline NT Password Disk and created bootable DVD then booted, located and successful changed reseted administrator password. Rebooted PC and I managed to login Recovery Console with new administrator password.

Easy (and scary) fix.

Boot from Windows 7 DVD and get to a command prompt. Find ACCWIZ.EXE and CMD.exe on the local hard disk. Make a backup copy of ACCWIZ.EXE and CMD.exe. Rename CMD.exe to ACCWIZ.EXE.

When you reboot the machine, click the Accessibility tools at the login screen. A system privledged command prompt will show up.

Use "Net user" to change the password.

You will need to reverse the earlier steps once you get in. I've hacked my way into my own servers using this method when an admin password change (with 20+ random characters) went poorly. This works when Rainbow Tables won't.
