Rory Read fired 1400 employees the whole PR & Media team, two third of marketing team, majority of them are more GPU engineers than CPU engineers. layoff alots of employees from GPU division at former ATI HQ Markham, AMD HQ Sunnyvale, closed Santa Clara office and also closed Austin campus where Bulldozer and Fusion were developed there. It seemed he is moved all GPU engineers from Markham to Sunnyvale as GPU center while Markham is became chipset center.

It does not looked so good for AMD GPU fanboys that Rory fired alots of GPU engineers, I wonder how this will affect Catalyst drivers? It would be far less reliable next year then before. Also would future Radeon GPU developements met the same fate as Bulldozer?

I wonder where the new CPU center will be when Austin CPU center closed by end Q1 2012 and what upcoming chip GPU or CPU Rory decided to cancelled?

As much as I think AMD cpu's have completely sucked over the past decade I'd hate for them to go out of business. Competition is good and all that jazz, but the way things are going for them it wouldn't surprise me in the least if they went under.

Maybe "Project Win" is to become "NVIDIA Rev. 2" and focus on the mobile and graphics market rather than keep on letting intel kick their ass so hard they have to reach up for their wallets?

Not surprised they decided to cancelled upcoming 28nm codenamed Wichita and Krishna APUs which succeed Zacate (E-Series) and Ontario (C-Series).

AMD could do very well (imo) by producing more APU's for the mobile and HTPC market, while advancing their already powerful and low cost high end GPU's. Producing very affordable CPU's (even though they aren't as powerful as Intel's) could make them some cash too if they don't sink too much into development.

They spent a lot of money on ATI, so they need to use it to their advantage. Their GPU's crush anything Intel offers. There are spots in the market they can dominate, they just need to be wise in which ones they pick.

Either way, a pissing match with Intel will not help them.
