who really cares about the weapons being the same or not. i'd still pay money for an updated engine that doesn't chop up and runs stable when using certain driver revisions

edit: what is dodge jumping? you can dodge after you jump? or are you just calling the dodges "dodge jumping."

Its a server option whether or not to disable the translocator. mebbe you noticed, but anyway

yeah just like elimating hammer launching or hammer jumping was an option with assault servers as all were using some kind of assault mod. did it happen, no.

Come on hey.. I have an GeForce2 GTS@205/400.. using
a P3 650@728.. and have played the game with 4 bots and
2 players setting the DETAIL as high as I can.

it is very playable.. some areas hitting the 60 fps mark. but
averages about 30 fps..

I also ran the benchmark on 1024x768 (high detail)..

FlyBy: 60.12 fps
BotMatch: 29.4 fps

Okay.. it isn't the >150fps marks posted on nvnews.net..
but it is playable for me. and ppl who thinks anything <50 fps
is unplayable.. believe me.. IT IS PLAYABLE.

just my 0.01 cents.

I don't think that the water is a pixelshader effect.

unless my GF2 can do pixelshaders (which it can't)..

water looks pretty cool (reflections)

could it be the nvidia shader rasterizer at work

i think the water with the reflection(in the outdoor map) is a cubemap.

30 fps is definitely playable on this game, ive got a g4 ti4200 and an athlon 2000 with 512 ddr ram and im only getting 45 fps on average (ok that is at 1024x768 with 4x FSAA but as long as u dont turn on 'stat fps' and actually see how low the frame rate is, it could be running at 60 for all i care and i still owuldnt notice the difference. as long as its playable wats the problem?

Maybe if you want all the bells and whistles at a screaming frame rate, but I can get a fairly playable 20-25 fps at 1024x768 at the medium quality settings on my GF2 GTS. (Flyby: 49.6, Botmatch: 19.3)

It looks good. Really good. I'm sure it would look a whole lot better on a better rig, but I think I can hold off for a little while more...

Cheers,
JND

Hmm. for some reason I don't like the new UT. It looks and feels more like Quake than the original UT.

Not that I don't like Quake, but the graphics are not as vibrant as they were in the old UT and the characters ... well, they look tooo futuristic.

Anyway, the graphics quality is superb, but I guess UT2k3 will replace Quake on my system, whereas I'll still play the original UT for it's gfx :-)

P.S. The sniper lightning rifle crap is soooo gay. Why couldn't they just leave the bullet one in there?
